Job Description

The City of Cordova Alaska is recruiting for a Finance Director. This Executive level position is responsible for a $15 million annual operating budget including four Enterprise Funds; and for directing, coordinating, and managing activities and staff of the Finance Department.
Finance Director will work with an experienced and dedicated City staff driven by a robust comprehensive plan and well-articulated Council vision in a collaborative community environment. This job is truly an opportunity to grow and create.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Public Administration with 5 or more years related experience in governmental accounting and finance. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Cordova, Alaska:
Cordova is known the world over for its pristine and scenic beauty. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, opportunities abound for outdoor sports and recreational activities with mountains to hike and ski; lakes, rivers and the ocean to explore; and wildlife everywhere for viewing.

Cordova is a commercial fishing hub with about 2,400 year-round residents, growing to nearly 5,000 during the height of the summer fishing season. Tourism strengthens Cordova’s economy with sport hunting and fishing, birding, heli-skiing and other recreational draws. Cordova is home to a Coast Guard cutter and aviation support base, excellent medical facilities, and has library and recreation center, swimming pool, and ski hill.
