ICMA Award Submission Information

ICMA recognizes the many achievements of its members through award programs that highlight extraordinary accomplishments as well as dedicated service to the profession.

Local Government Excellence Professional and Program Awards 

ICMA's Local Government Excellence Awards celebrate the value of professional management and honors creative contributions to professional local government leadership. These awards highlight public awareness of the value of professional management, and its impact to the quality of life in our communities. Submitting a Nomination for ICMA's Local Government Excellence Awards

  1. You must be logged into the ICMA website in order to submit a nomination.
  2. If you do not have an ICMA website account, you will need to set one up here in order to submit the nomination. When setting up an account, use the email address that you want to receive communications from ICMA regarding this submission, 
  3. Once you are logged into the website, go to "my account". You will see "Awards" on the top blue menu bar. Hover over the "awards" tab and select link to nominate either a Professional Excellence or Program Excellence Award. Click on the appropriate tab.

Distinguished Service Award

The ICMA Distinguished Service Award is given to a manager retired from the profession for a minimum of two years and who has made an outstanding contribution to the management profession and local government.

A nomination for the Distinguished Service Award may be made by any member of ICMA, self-nominations will not be accepted. The form below will need to be completed and emailed to jlee@icma.org for consideration.

Honorary Membership 

Honorary membership in ICMA is awarded to an individual outside of the profession of local government management because of his or her distinguished public service and contributions to the improvement and strengthening of local government. 

A nomination for Honorary Membership can be made by any voting member of ICMA. The form below will need to be completed and emailed to jlee@icma.org for consideration.
