Chief Administrative Officer
Incorporated on April 10, 1956, the Village of Savoy is a home rule Illinois municipal corporation with over 8,800 residents. The Village is governed by its residents through a Village President and six Village Trustees; each of whom are elected at-large on 4-year staggered terms.
The Village operates under the President-Trustee form of government in which the Village President is the Chief Elected Official and the Chief Executive Officer of the municipal corporation. As such, the Village President is statutorily empowered to manage and control all administrative and operational aspects of the municipal corporation.
The Village President appoints, with confirmation from Village Trustees, a full-time Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), commonly referred to as the Village Administrator. The Village Administrator serves as the administrative head of the municipal corporation and manages the day-to-day operations of the Village. The Village Administrator is assisted by the Village Budget Officer, Village Clerk, Village Treasurer, department heads, and a professional and dedicated staff.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business management, or a closely related field.
2. Five (5) years of experience in municipal management with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
3. Must establish principal residence within the Village’s corporate limits within 6 months of employment.
4. Must be bondable.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in public administration, public policy, business management, or a closely related field.
2. Ten (10) years of experience in municipal management.
3. Credentialed Manager designation through the International City/County Management Association.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000. Additionally, the Village offers free individual membership to the Village’s Recreation Center and offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation; sick leave; holiday pay; individual life insurance; 100% employer-paid employee health, dental, and vision insurance (employee pays 50% for dependents); and enrollment in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Village residency is required within 6 months of start date.
