The City of Hamlet is seeking an innovative and dedicated City Manager to oversee daily operations, coordinate projects across departments, and ensure top-notch services for our residents. The City employs the Council-Manager form of government consisting of a Mayor and five Council members elected at-large in non-partisan elections. The City employs 95 full-time employees and has a combined annual budget of $11.2M. With a strategic central location less than 30 miles from Pinehurst and easy commutes to Raleigh, Charlotte, Fayetteville, and the Piedmont Triad, Hamlet offers the perfect blend of small-town charm and big-city accessibility. Our historic downtown area features a beautifully preserved depot, museum, and visitor center, creating a unique and vibrant community atmosphere. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby Pee Dee River, Uwharrie National Forest, and Sandhills Gamelands. As our city experiences exciting growth and redevelopment opportunities, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping Hamlet’s future. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and five or more years of experience in municipal management, or a combination of both education and experience, along with strong ethical standards, leadership qualities, and exceptional skills in community relations, business, budgeting, and communication. Residency within Hamlet is required within six months of appointment, or a mutually agreed timeframe. The position offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $130,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, along with an attractive benefits package.
