Located in San Mateo County, the City of San Bruno (pop. 45,000) is known as the “City with a Heart.” The community takes pride in its diversity and is located just 12 miles south of San Francisco, offering a small-town atmosphere within a large metropolitan setting. The San Bruno Police Department is supported by 50 sworn and 20 professional staff and a FY2024-25 budget of $24 million.

The City is seeking an inspiring and engaged contemporary leader to serve as its next Chief of Police. Ideal candidates will have a history of working collaboratively and closely with other internal departments to address public safety related priorities. Excellent strategic thinking and communications skills also expected. Seven years of experience in police work that includes at least three of which have been at the rank of lieutenant (or higher) and a bachelor’s degree are required.
