The City of Charlevoix is seeking an Electric Department Director to join our team!
The selected candidate will be responsible for all operations of the Electric Department, including planning, organizing and directing Electric Department employees and activities. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for performing technical engineering and related administrative work, and planning, directing, organizing municipal construction projects, and will also perform liaison and staff work for the City Manager. The incumbent must maintain a close working relationship with the City Manager, City Council, residents/ratepayers, and City staff.
Our preferred candidate will be a graduate from a college or university of recognized standing with a degree in electrical engineering or related subjects and at least eight years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) involving various phases of municipal electric utility management, public works design, construction, maintenance and repair activities, and have administrative experience involving a variety of municipal management activities. A Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan is strongly preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to reside within twenty (20) miles of the nearest boundary of the City of Charlevoix within 90 days of their date of employment, pending other conditions as permitted by the Act.
