Job Summary
The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations is seeking a governmental accounting professional who is detail-oriented and analytical to lead our Accounting team as an Accounting Manager. This full-time management position reports to the Assistant Director / Controller and leads a team of eleven overseeing the accounting operations of the County. The Accounting Manager provides technical guidance and advice regarding compliance with policies, procedures, and governmental accounting principles; resolves problems for financial programs and transactions; and develops or updates necessary policies and procedures. This key position manages the County's general ledger, projects and grants, fixed assets and all associated accounting in accordance with GAAP, GASB, and the State Auditor of Public Accounts. This position ensures accuracy of data and transactions and provides information regarding the financial condition of the County through the creation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the APA transmittals. The Accounting manager serves as the liaison with the County’s external auditors, monitors internal controls; and provides support to internal and external customers with financial issues and questions.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; five (5) years of related work experience, including one (1) year of team lead or supervisory experience demonstrating the job tasks illustrated, preferably in a government accounting setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Virginia Government Officers Association Certificate and/or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO). Oracle EBS or Oracle Fusion Cloud experience is a plus.
