Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager leads a small, highly competent team serving in one of Washington’s few cities with a Moody’s Aaa rating. The Accounting Manager reports to the Finance Director and has primary responsibility for the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The successful candidate will have a broad accounting and finance background, supervisory experience, and effective communication skills.
We are seeking an individual with:
• Knowledge of government accounting standards and the Washington State Auditor’s Office Budgeting, Accounting and Reporting System Manual;
• Annual Comprehensive Financial Report preparation experience;
• A broad knowledge base in the areas of local government accounting, auditing, general ledger maintenance, treasury functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, long-term debt issuance including legal compliance, and grant management including preparing the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards;
• Experience or knowledge implementing and administering internal controls to safely protect public resources; and
• The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with department heads, external auditors, consultants, financial institutions, peers, employees, and the general public.
