The City Manager position serves at the pleasure of the City Council and is supported by a strong Executive Management Team. The City Manager must hit the ground running in this demanding position. He or she will join the City Council in a goal-setting session early on to prioritize a lengthy project list and then guide the City through the list. The successful candidate will take a fresh look at the organization, analyze the strengths and weaknesses of every City department, and make appropriate recommendations.
Regarding fire protection, the next City Manager must understand increasing service-level expectations, the strategic plan, and the importance of prioritizing risk reduction and mitigation throughout the community.
