Assistant Public Works Director

In the heart of Silicon Valley, Redwood City (pop. 86,754) is the third largest city in San Mateo County. With an annual budget of $123.4 million and 116.43 FTE, the Public Works Services Department provides a wide range of services, including environmental programs, maintenance of the right-of-way, and utilities (sewer, storm water, recycled and potable water). The Assistant Public Works Director helps organize and direct department operations and leads citywide sustainability initiatives and programs.

The ideal candidate will be a contemporary public works professional with a broad range of experience and a proven record of effectively integrating sustainability initiatives into infrastructure maintenance projects. With a flexible and adaptive leadership style the Assistant Director will be politically astute with outstanding communication and presentation skills. The position requires five years of progressively responsible maintenance management experience, including at least two years of supervisory or management experience, plus a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree is desirable.

Salary range is $162,300 - $219,108; salary supplemented by a competitive benefits package. This recruitment closes Sunday, December 22, 2024.
