The City of Hilliard is accepting applications for the position of Community Development Director in the Community Development department.
This exempt position provides executive leadership, direction, guidance, and management of the Community Development department, comprised of the Divisions of Engineering, Planning, Building Standards, and Transportation/Mobility. This position establishes the strategic plan for the Department, including planning, directing, organizing, and managing the functions, operations, programs, activities, processes, resources, and staff to meet the established goals and development programs for the City. This position supervises the Directors of four Divisions within the department.
This position directs and promotes the high-quality development of the City by adhering to and continually implementing City Council’s and City Manager’s goals; assists the City Manager with the formulation of vision and implementation of programs and efforts to continually develop and re-develop the City as needed to support Council’s strategic goals; formulates vision and provides direction to Division Directors; builds and develops a cohesive leadership team within the department and participates as a partner with other members of the executive leadership team; develops and institutionalizes strong working relationships with the general public, area businesses, and the development and real estate communities; supports the effort to identify areas of opportunity and concern in the promotion of business location and expansion within the City of Hilliard; directs and oversees the implementation of development and re-development process for large-scale projects and corporate development; leads the creation of the administration of the department’s operating budget; ensures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, and materials; and provides input to the City’s capital budget.

Minimum Requirements of Work:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or other relevant field, and extensive professional/managerial experience in a relevant capacity (preferably at the local government level).
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Land Use Planning, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or related field.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $135,000. Employees receive employer sponsored life insurance and have access to a generous health insurance plan along with paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and personal leave. Other benefits are covered by Codified Ordinance Chapter 161 Compensation Plan.
