Portland, Texas, is a city of more than 15 square miles located across the Harbor Bridge from Corpus Christi. With a current population of approximately 23,000, Portland is home to a diverse workforce serving Coastal Bend industries and businesses. The Development Services Department Director is a newly created leadership role. Under the direction of the City Manager and Deputy City Manager, the Director will lead the City’s planning function. The Development Services Department is responsible for all annexation, planning, development, and permitting activities in Portland, including, health, safety, and zoning information.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, public policy, or a related field; a master’s degree is highly desirable. In addition, candidates must have five years of increasingly responsible experience in land use planning, inspection services, or a directly related field. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - 105,000.
