The City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, seeks a tech-savvy, results-driven, change agent to be their next Human Resources Director. Striving to be a model employer that uses innovation to carry out best practices, the City needs an HR Director who is knowledgeable of HR trends and solutions that meet today’s human capital needs and challenges. Candidates must have a track record of evaluating existing HR programs/policies, effectively influencing and advocating for revisions, and/or developing systems that empower City departments with the outcome of sound and data-driven HR decisions. The City is not just seeking a sound customer-service approach to HR, but one that is designed around customer needs, while increasing engagement and retention and reducing legal liability. Thus, outstanding change management and technology skills are essential. The City employs 2,425 full-time employees across 34 departments. The HR Director will report to an Assistant City Manager. The HR Director oversees an operating budget of $2.7M, and a health care fund of $36M with 17 HR staff providing services in nine HR divisional areas: recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, employee development, employee medical services, and compliance and records management. Qualifications: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field, master's degree strongly preferred, and 7 - 10 years’ progressive experience in human resources, which must include time as a director, assistant director of HR, or division manager of HR functions. HR certification (e.g. SPHR, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-CP) or eligibility and desire to sit for certification are preferred. Extensive experience with evaluating and implementing HR technology solutions is desirable. Salary and Benefits: The pay range is $107,654.62- $134,568.28. Base salary and compensation are negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package including a comprehensive wellness program.
