County Manager/Administrative Coordinator
Job Description

Adams County, WI (population 20,220). The County of Adams is a historic, full-service county amidst the rolling hills of scenic central Wisconsin. The County Manager leads a progressive organization of 300 FTEs, oversees a budget of $57 million, and reports to a 20-member governing body. Friendship is the County seat, and a portion of the Wisconsin Dells is located in Adams County. The County is 76 miles from Madison, 145 miles from Milwaukee and 125 miles from Green Bay. The County’s economy is primarily based on agriculture and recreational tourism.

Outdoor recreation is one of the main reasons that people come to enjoy Adams County. Situated on Wisconsin’s second and fourth largest lakes, Petenwell and Castle Rock, Adams County sees visitors from all over the country who come to enjoy all the fishing, water skiing and boating that these lakes offer. The County has over 30 lakes and boat launches are scattered throughout the county. In addition, the area offers many hiking trails and the Roche-A-Cri State Park showcases beautiful views. Hunting land is plentiful as are the ATV and snowmobile trails that that cross much of Adams County.

Adams County is home to several golf courses to challenge beginners and pros. Lake Arrowhead, with the 18-hole Pines Course and 18-hole Lakes Course is a championship course that is consistently voted one of the top courses in Wisconsin. Sand Valley is one of the newest courses in the County and attracts national attention and interest.

Successful candidates will have:
• Well developed collaborative skills
• A history of a team-oriented management style
• Experience in budgeting and finance
• Demonstrated skills in managing capital projects

Candidates must have:
• A bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in administration or related discipline
• At least 8 years of administrative management and/or financial experience. Prior municipal or county experience is highly valued as is status as an ICMA Credentialed Manager

Starting salary is $120,000 to $130,000 +/- DOQ. The County provides an excellent benefit package.
