The City of Garden City is accepting applications for the Chief Building Inspector position in the Neighborhood & Development Services Department.
Examples of Duties

This position coordinates skilled inspections of all phases of construction to assure compliance with plumbing, mechanical, electrical, residential and commercial building codes and zoning ordinances, as well as ensuring compliance with approved plans and specifications on file with the Department, City of Garden City, City of Holcomb and Finney County. The Building Official plans, organizes and performs supervisory and administrative duties of the Inspections Division.

Typical Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; or business or vocational school training in construction or craft trades; or with a bachelor's degree in construction, architecture or engineering preferred or any combination of experience, education or training that will produce the desired qualifications. Five years' experience in construction and the technical aspects of inspection or planning and two years' experience in supervisory or lead capacity preferred. ICC certifications desirable. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
