CITY MANAGER
CITY OF HOGANSVILLE, GEORGIA
The City of Hogansville, Georgia is accepting applications for the position of City Manager.
Hogansville is a central Georgia community focused on the future. It is in Troup County which has seen substantial growth over the past ten years.
With a population of approximately 3,000, Hogansville is a full service City offering the full scope of utility services. The City is looking to grow and needs a leader that can respond to change and work with the Council to move forward. Hogansville is located on the developing I-85 South Corridor and will experience unprecedented growth in the future. How to capture and manage quality growth is a strong desire of the Mayor and Council.
An elected mayor and five council members govern the city. The City Manager is the chief administrative officer responsible for the city’s daily operation with direct oversight of city operating departments including public works, electric and natural gas utilities, police, community and economic development. The City Manager reports to the Mayor and Council.
The City is seeking someone experienced in city management, leadership and project management. Applicants should provide evidence of innovative leadership in project management, communications with Mayor and Council, effective relationships with staff, and solid communication ability in the community using social media is a plus. City Management experience of 3 years or more is required with a focus on managing utility operations. A combination of education and related experience will be considered.
The manager should have the ability to communicate vision as well as tactical goals with a capacity to manage a number of projects and keep the Mayor, council and community informed as to status. The manager must have direct, positive experience in working with elected officials. An ability to collaborate with regional partners is also required, with an emphasis on relationship building and identifying resources. Grant writing and grant administration will be considered a plus.
Core skills include a working knowledge of finance, including an ability to articulate the cost benefits of plans and projects, excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for customer service and consensus building. The successful candidate has a Bachelors Degree, a Masters Degree in Public Administration is preferred. The salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000 and negotiable based on experience level and ability.
