Here’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss, especially if you are anticipating an upcoming salary review.  On May1 at 1 PM Eastern, experts will review the results of the 2017 CAO Salary and Compensation Survey. The webinar is free but open only to members. Plus, as bonus, this will be the first webinar hosted in the new ICMA online classroom. This new platform is a major step toward creating a worldwide learning community as outlined in the Envision ICMA Strategic Plan, and this webinar is the world premiere of this state-of-the-art platform.

Webinar Details

For more than 30 years, ICMA has maintained comprehensive data on the salary and compensation structures of CAOs across the country. While the many variables impacting any given CAO’s compensation are unique and complex, ICMA’s data help to establish norms for practices across local governments in support of our Guidelines for Compensation and our members.

Results of the 2017 CAO Salary and Compensation Survey, to which more than 1,600 responded, will be released on May 1, 2018. In this webinar, ICMA survey research staff will walk through our latest data on salaries and benefits, including variation across states, community size, gender, and local government type. They’ll also review trends in compensation decision-making and issues unique to CAOs.

Dr. Rex Facer, associate professor of public management at the Romney Institute of Public Management at Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management will join Laura Goddeeris, ICMA director of research, and Berna Oztekin-Gunaydin, ICMA researcher, in reviewing the data. A national and international thought leader on human resource management and local public finance issues, Facer will share highlights from his own research contextualizing public-sector compensation practices and alternative work schedules.
