Public and community safety requires cross-cutting efforts by police, fire/EMS, emergency management, code enforcement, animal control, and other local government services—as well as members of the community. ICMA provides resources and technical assistance to help communities prevent, prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters, both natural and manmade. Documents, case studies, and first-person accounts provide suggestions for educating, communicating, and engaging with residents so that they become partners in public safety. ICMA also provides a forum for conversations about such timely issues as gun violence and body-worn cameras.
