As many outdated facets of local government begin to phase out the City of Mesa had other plans for one of their public libraries. THINKspot was implemented in 2013 in one branch of the Mesa Public Library; it serves as a collaborative workspace providing citizens with training and access to cutting-edge digital tools including 3D printers. Through adaption of new, current digital products and softwares the library will be able to function in a capacity never explored before. The program has been nominated for the 2016 Local Government Excellence Awards in the category of Strategic Leadership & Governance (populations of 50,000 and greater).
