CPM’s custom reporting options have been updated to help your jurisdiction make the most of its performance data. Our new suite of options allows you to build a report to meet your jurisdiction’s needs. Potential uses of the custom reports include:

  • Comparing performance to custom sets of comparable CPM participants based on service attributes
  • Analyzing the “ins and outs” of your local services
  • Identifying CPM measures for your budgeting and strategic planning purposes
  • Setting priorities and targeting improvements
  • Collecting summary research on pressing service issues.

First, the performance snapshot base offering includes an Excel document with a cascade of measures (descriptors, inputs, outputs, efficiencies, and outcomes) for a service area. Between one and three years of data can be collected for the snapshot.  CPM will work with you to identify the measures of interest and how you want them graphically represented. Without add-ons, this offering may suit those looking to include CPM performance data into city documents.

CPM also now offers several custom reporting add-ons to expand your report based on your needs. First, a written report can be developed to analyze your data in comparison to CPM trends. The inclusion of jurisdiction-provided data add-on allows you to bring in relevant service area data that you collect but don’t report in the annual CPM data cycle. Next, the custom comparables add-on can be used to compare your data to CPM participants with similar service provisions based on several key variables.

Beyond these standard options, CPM also offers a summary research and analysis option to explore relevant service area issues in greater detail. For instance, CPM recently authored a summary research and analysis report for the town of Windsor, Connecticut. Windsor was interested in exploring the performance of its volunteer fire department and sought to identify other potential personnel arrangements in order to meet the current and future needs of its citizens. For the report, CPM provided a concise analysis of fire personnel transition literature, noted how a city can explore future needs through strategic planning, and analyzed Windsor’s fire data in comparison to volunteer, combination, and career fire departments.
