Mecklenburg County Manager Dena R. Diorio has been honored by the Charlotte Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) to receive an award at their 30th Annual NAWBO Charlotte Awards Gala.

“The National Association of Women Business Owners plays a significant role in our community, and internationally,” Diorio said. “I’m pleased to be honored by such a distinguished organization."

Each year, the members of the organization recognize the outstanding accomplishments of women local leaders and business owners. Diorio will be receiving the Public Policy Award, which is given to a woman who has made a difference in her community and state, particularly in the area of setting and promoting policies that affect women business owners.

Established in 1979, NAWBO has helped to unite women in business from all industries. The organization has chapters in nearly every metropolitan area, and is represented in 33 countries through their affiliation with Les Femmes Chef d’ Enterprises Mondiales (World Association of Women Entrepreneurs).
