Community Services Director

The City of Piqua, Ohio is seeking a Community Services Director to work in collaboration with City departments and the community to develop land use and strategic planning objectives for a full-service city with strong traditional values and hometown style known for responsible government. The City of Piqua is home to more than 21,000 residents and offers small-town charm with big-city convenience. Piqua is 25 miles north of Dayton -- a residential, commercial and light manufacturing community with a distinctive downtown. It is located on the Great Miami River, along the I-75 corridor, north of the I-70 interchange, well connected to the rich and historic culture of Ohio and to national markets.
City of Piqua municipal owned utilities include Electric, Water, Wastewater, Refuse, and Stormwater.
The City employs 196 full-time employees with an overall budget of approximately $159.9 million. The governmental budget is approximately $45.5 million, including the general fund, parks, safety services and street expenses, with enterprise funds and debt service comprising the remainder. Annual debt service is $5.8 million, primarily in utility funds.
The next Community Services Director is expected to ensure that services are delivered efficiently, professionally and in alignment with City goals and priorities.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in planning, public or business administration or related field, and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a local public agency or municipal government, the management of public sector planning, community-based programs and municipal administration including six (6) years of supervisory experience; American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.
The City of Piqua offers a competitive hiring salary range of $114,000 - $146,000, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, the City provides a generous benefits package that includes comprehensive medical with wellness incentives and employer contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), dental, vision, life, ST< Disability, up to 5 weeks of paid vacation, 5 personal days, sick leave and 11 paid holidays. The Director will be a member of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement system.
