THE POSITION
The Management Analyst plays a key role in driving City initiatives forward, tackling complex challenges, and helping shape how local government operates day to day. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across departments—conducting research, developing recommendations, supporting policy and budget decisions, and collaborating with leadership, elected officials, and community stakeholders. It’s a fast-paced, high-visibility role for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and making a meaningful impact in public service.

This is the journey-level classification in the Management Analyst series, where individuals operate with a high degree of independence and ownership. Analysts at this level manage a full range of assignments—from analytical projects to program coordination—while leading initiatives and contributing directly to organizational priorities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, analytically driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by improving how local government operates. This individual brings experience in grant management, research, policy and legislative analysis, and program coordination, and is comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. They communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders—including department heads, consultants, elected officials, and grantor agencies—and can translate complex information into concise staff reports, agenda items, and presentations for City Council and committees.

The successful candidate is proficient in data management, performance tracking, and grant compliance, with a working knowledge of municipal budgeting and applicable federal and state regulations. This role also supports day-to-day operations and provides administrative coordination for projects, including support for public Council committee meetings. Experience in contract administration, grant research, and legislative analysis is highly desirable. A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field, along with three years of progressively responsible analytical or program support experience in a public agency or similar organization, is required. Above all, the candidate is a proactive self-starter who exercises sound judgment, collaborates effectively, and brings practical, solutions-oriented thinking to support the City’s strategic goals.
