Position Summary:
The City of Ralston is seeking a dynamic and creative Public Relations & Events Specialist to lead the City’s communications, community engagement efforts, and event planning. This position is responsible for managing public information, enhancing the City’s digital presence, leading storytelling initiatives regarding City projects, and coordinating events that foster community pride and participation. The Specialist will work collaboratively with City departments, community organizations, and external partners to promote initiatives and ensure consistent, transparent communication with residents.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and maintain the City of Ralston website, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and up to date
• Develop and implement social media strategies; create engaging content to promote City news, programs, and events
• Write and distribute newsletters, press releases, public notices, and other official communications
• Serve as a liaison for public outreach efforts, responding to inquiries and promoting community engagement
• Coordinate with City departments and local organizations to plan and execute community and regional/national events
• Assist in organizing City-sponsored events from planning through implementation, including logistics, promotion, finding sponsorships, and on-site support
• Support communication efforts for City projects, initiatives, and public information campaigns
• Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication platforms

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Knowledge of and experience in website design, SEO strategies, digital content management systems, and digital communications
• Strong social media management and content creation skills
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability in proactive community outreach and public engagement
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including City staff, officials, and community members
• Comfort and effectiveness in networking, public engagement, and relationship-building activities

Desired Skills:
• Fluent in Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening

Eligibility Requirements:
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in public relations, communications, event coordination, or a similar role preferred

Desired Requirements:
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
