Windcrest, Texas is a residential community in Northeast Bexar County that covers 2.5 square miles. The unique City of Windcrest has progressed from humble beginnings of 200 residents to more than 5,500 along with 2,300 homes and apartments, and more than 150 various businesses and services. Windcrest is known as the “City of Lights” because of its Christmas lights and decorations displays during the Christmas season. The annual Light up event draws visitors from throughout the Bexar County and beyond.

Windcrest is on the Northeast side of San Antonio in South Central Texas. This advantageous location along I-35 begins one of the fasters growing regions in the country known as the Innovation Corridor between San Antonio and Austin. Residents enjoy short commutes via I-35, and Loop 410, to downtown San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, Randolph Air Force Base, and Lackland Air Force Base. It is only about a 15-minute drive to any location and the International Airport is just a hop, skip, and jump away. The City is positioned perfectly for business because of the ease of access to the major thoroughfares.

The executive branch of Windcrest operates under the home-rule authority and consists of a Mayor and five at-large City Council members. These elected officials are responsible for governing the City and adopting ordinances for the benefit of the community. The City Manager serves as Chief Executive and Administrative Officer for the City. Responsible to the City Council for the proper administration of city affairs as assigned by charter, ordinance, or directive, City Council policies, and state and federal law. Windcrest provides a variety of municipal services, including Police, Fire, Public Works, Municipal Court, Finance, City Secretary, Animal Control, Code Enforcement, and Garbage and Recycling collection. This position is responsible for a total budget of $9.8M.

This position also works closely with community members, local school members, and is highly visible at community events.
