Arizona State University’s Marvin Andrews and Jane Morris Fellowship in Urban Management: Now Accepting Applications for 20th MPA/MPP Cohort! 

The Marvin Andrews and Jane Morris Fellowship is seeking the nation's most talented graduate students seeking their Master of Public Administration or Public Policy for an unparalleled opportunity in urban management. This elite program connects ambitious graduate students with real-world local government leaders and academic pioneers, fostering the next generation of innovative public servants.  About the Fellowship 

The Fellowship, located in the School of Public Affairs (SPA),  provides a full 2-year tuition waiver as it prepares future leaders for executive management careers in municipal and county governments. Named after two City of Phoenix public service icons, Phoenix City Manager Marvin Andrews and Phoenix Deputy City Manager Jane Morris, this program honors their legacy by offering: 

Engaging Academic Curriculum: Fellows dive into coursework on public management, urban policy, and leadership taught by faculty and practitioners.

Practical Experience: Fellows gain hands-on experience in their first year as part-time, paid 20 hr/wk management interns with ASU's Center for Urban Innovation, ASU SPA faculty/staff or a city/town/regional government in the Phoenix metropolitan areas (Maricopa and Pinal Counties). In their second year, all Fellows transition to a 20 hr/wk part-time, paid internship with a municipality/county in the Phoenix metropolitan areas (Maricopa and Pinal counties). Fellows are paid $20 per/hr.

Professional Development: The program includes attending conferences such as the International City/County Management Association and the Arizona City/County Management Association to enhance Fellows' leadership skills and build valuable professional connections.

Research Opportunities: Fellows can engage in industry-leading research in public administration, often providing pro bono research support to local cities and counties.

Leadership Development: The program prepares Fellows for executive roles empowering them to be effective leaders in their communities.

Ethical Governance: Instilling a keen sense of ethics and public service values.

Mentorship: Each Fellow is paired with an experienced executive public administrator for guidance and support throughout the program. They also receive individual mentoring from our Harrell-Hutchinson Visiting Professional who is a nationally recognized professional local government manager.
