ICMA has partnered with LGHN to enhance and add value to your membership.
As a member of these organizations, you have access to certain benefits with ICMA. Also, as a member of ICMA you have reciprocity of benefits extended to you from these organizations.
LGHN represents the Hispanic/Latino perspective on issues, an important element to better serve Hispanic/Latino communities and celebrate our culture. Affiliate groups, including LGHN, assist ICMA in achieving our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals through increasing ICMA’s understanding of programs and issues related to Hispanic and Latino communities. It is important that members of LGHN be part of ICMA so we can ensure balanced representation on ICMA committees and the ICMA executive board.
HOW DOES AN ICMA MEMBERSHIP WORK?
When ICMA hosts an event, any members from LGHN who wants to attend, can attend the event and pay the ICMA member rate. If the event is free to ICMA members, then it is free to you as a LGHN Member. Yes, that’s correct, your ICMA Membership allows you to be treated as a member with all the benefits of membership.
Note: Your membership will be validated with each respective organization to make sure that you're still an active member there.
Here is what a few of your colleagues have to say about how they have benefited from their membership in both LGHN and ICMA:
“I joined ICMA when I first started as an intern with the city of Austin, and later as a founding member of LGHN. I have found that both organizations helped to improve my professional goals, allowed me to develop life lasting friendships all over the country and abroad, and provided me with the opportunity to mentor new professionals.”
-Tony Ojeda, Retired
“Membership in the ICMA and LGHN has provided me with the opportunity to interact and network with local government professionals across the country. Both organizations provide a forum to discuss issues we face in our increasingly diversifying communities and share best practices and approaches. ICMA and LGHN have done an excellent job providing access to quality professional development webinars on topics that address critical issues as we manage during these challenging times.”
- Raoul A. Lavin, Assistant City Manager, Tallahassee, Florida
