Join presenters from ICMA Corporate Partner, Center for Public Safety Management, as they discuss the current state of public safety in the US.

Over the last few years, many communities have struggled with increases – or the perception of increases – in violent crime. To address these concerns, the Department of Justice developed a Violent Crime Reduction Roadmap. This guidance, however, leaves communities in a gray area when it comes to managing violent crime that arises from residents with mental health issues. And therein lies the question: how do you work to reduce violent crime without violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?

In this webinar, you'll join presenters from the Center for Public Safety Management as they discuss the DOJ's roadmap and provide tips for managing other pressing public safety concerns affecting the nation. They will cover:

  • What are the federal options for reducing violent crime and where can you find funding?
  • When it comes to mental health responses, are you violating the ADA?
  • How and with whom shall we engage on our team?
  • What types of data should we be using?

Presenters:

  • Tom Wieczorek, Director, Center for Public Safety Management

Note: this webinar was originally titled "2024 Public Safety Update" and was rescheduled from June 26, 2024 to August 29, 2024.
