This article describes the internship pilot program developed by Professor Rob Baker of Wittenberg University in conjuction with ICMA and the town of Meredith, New Hampshire. In 2005 Meredith, with a population 6,700 and a stretched workforce of fewer than 100 employees, hosted 11 interns at virtually no cost to the Town. The article highlights the advantages of hosting internships, results achieved by interns, and suggestions for making internships worthwile to all parties.
