Presented by SAFEbuilt

As housing demand intensifies and prices in many cities stretch well beyond affordable, the “alternative” housing market is being supplied in many new and creative ways.  Micro-housing, accessory dwellings, container homes, tree houses, and tiny homes are all structural options that are gaining ground as realistic housing choices. Similarly, co-housing, housing co-ops, work-trade and serial house-sitting are some of the non-traditional domestic arrangements that are popping up at the intersection of low housing availability and the sharing economy.  Few of these options are currently regulated by many communities and almost all of these choices present changes and challenges to both planning and building staff.  This webinar will provide insight into the future of housing and suggest approaches for local government to efficiently and effectively regulate a wide range of alternative housing options.
