This joint project by a collection of non-profit organizations seeks to provide a definitive handbook for sustainability, outlining 81 goals and 10 principles that they hope will become the new national standard. These goals and principles are designed to create a performance management framework from which all future sustainability projects and policies can be judged. Utililzing the STAR Community Index rating system, this white paper is directed towards local governments and municipalities seeking to implement sustainability policies on a community and regional level. The Sustainability Goals are broken up into 3 categories: Environment, Economy and Society and encompass many of the relevant sustainability issues of our time. An excellent read for local government professionals seeking to compare their sustainability policies to other communities and the nation at large.
