As part of the SunShot Solar Outreach Partnership, ICLEI and IREC hosted half-day workshop on May 1, 2013 to provide technical assistance to local government officials in Westchester County, NY and surrounding communities who are interested in learning about ways to improve their permitting processes for solar facilities. Targeting Planning and Building Department Staff and Municipal Sustainability Committee Members, the workshop covered the three primary components of the solar permitting process—the pre-application stage, application submittal, and facility inspection, along with suggestions on how to improve and streamline the permitting process in ways that benefit the permitting authority, as well as solar installers and their customers.
