This report features the 8/25-26/2015 Strategy Summit participants' conversations about implementing recommendations of The President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing and identifying community-based approaches that can improve trust in public institutions. The participants—police chiefs, managers, mayors, and association and nonprofit executives—talked about how they can work together to improve community relations. Participants encouraged local government officials to enlist community organizations as conveners of cross-discipline conversations around community values and community engagement, including discussion of race issues. The Strategy Summit was hosted by the Major Cities Chiefs Association and ICMA, with convening partners National Civic League and National League of Cities. It was funded by the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, Houston, Texas.
