The council of Townsville traditionally sought sponsorships for events and projects from organizations in the community in a decentralized, ad-hoc manner. Looking to improve their systems, Townsville created the Together Townsville program. In this program, the government is merely a facilitator in linking organizations to programs.
The program operates in two parts: the Bank, which is a repository of programs seeking sponsorship. The repository details several levels of participation in a given program, ranging from monetary participation through volunteer work, or a combination of both. The approach has allowed businesses to better interact with interesting programs.
This case study was nominated for ICMA's Annual Awards Program.
