After the state of California mandated that counties replace their outdated welfare eligibility software with a new system, CalWORKS Information Network (CalWIN), Sacramento County (1,223,000) was the second of 18 counties to implement the system. The new system now provides much more accurate information on eligibility for CalWORKS, the state’s welfare program for needy families.
