The water quality of the Dana Point Harbor community in California has been deteriorating over the years. To help turn this situation around the county partnered with local marina operators and boaters to implement recycling regulations on hazardous materials commonly dumped in the water. The program offers free recycling of fuel filters, automatic transmission fluid, coolants, vessel starting batteries, and monofilament fishing line. The County also adjusted landscaped areas around the harbor in an effort to reduce run-off.
