This article addresses the concept of crime prevention through environmental design, or CPTED. Discusses basic concepts of CPTED, such as natural surveillance, territorial reinforcement and access control. Also describes several advanced issues and overviews a CPTED study conducted by the author in Sarasota, Florida.
