The City of Ann Arbor’s Field Operations Unit, in conjunction with Information Technology Services, recently implemented a GIS-based Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Snow Plow Mapping and Mobile Resource Management System. All vehicles are used during snow events and field operations maintenance activities throughout the year.  The system’s main objective is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of field operations activities, including snow plowing.
