In 2007, the City of Arlington created the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit foundation. This non-profit group oversees an endowment fund which gets monies from a natural gas drilling site and leases from City owned properties. Through the endowment fund, the City contributes 90 percent of the natural gas earnings and fifty percent of the royalties to charitable causes that promote: safe and strong neighborhoods, historic preservation, arts and culture, and libraries.
