This is the 2010 nomination of Munster, Indiana's Centennial Park program for the Community Sustainability Award. Town Manager Thomas F. DeGiulio is credited with helping develop a plan to turn a long-time landfill into a park. Not only has the public benefited from the general amenities of the park, but the redevelopment has brought $1.0 billion in private investments to the surrounding area.
