I don’t know about you, but I think it’s too cold. I said last week that I was happy it was November because of the fall weather; now that it is 18 ° F when I wake up, I would like to recant my previous comment! With this quick change to winter weather, many municipalities may be scrambling to prepare.

In which case, I pulled some resources from the Knowledge Network that may help facilitate the transition to winter:

  • With the onset of winter weather, you may want to adopt a policy of telecommuting in order to keep business running normally despite less than favorable road conditions. Here are five reasons why telecommuting is for you.
  • “But Jesse, we don’t have a telecommuting policy. How do we handle inclement weather leave?” I’m glad you asked, because you aren’t the only one. Go here to see the answers to that very question.
  • Check out this document from Boulder, Colorado, that provides information on a successful program for snow and ice control.
  • Even more resources can be found within these topic pages: Transportation, Public Works, and Public Safety.

Share your policies for dealing with winter/inclement weather this year. Additionally, if you have questions for the Knowledge Network, you can ask them here and answer some questions from other users here.

Stay warm!
