You may have seen or heard the news stories floating around the past few days predicting the death of Facebook by 2017. A study conducted at Princeton compares Facebook to social disease models and predicts that more people will stop using the site, comparing it to other now largely defunct social media like Myspace.  Facebook's laughing the whole notion off suggesting that Princeton won't have any students by 2021. Socia media is now a ubiquitous component of citizen enagement and it's interesting to consider why.  Obviously we have never before seen this kind of tool that is so efficient at moving information around.  But its ability to move and shape public sentiment is what we'll all be grappling with for a long time to come.
