As part of a project funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, ICMA is supporting the education of local government professionals about the use of body-worn cameras in police departments. Among other things, the project has produced fact sheet "Body Worn Cameras: What You Need to Know," highlighting best practices for implementing a body-worn camera program.

The fact sheet outlines the steps involved—such as research, stakeholder involvement, and public outreach—and lists resources that provide additional detail and assistance.

The project is supported by a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and implemented by ICMA and CNA. The fact sheet is from BJA’s Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program.
