ICMA staff have received some inquiries from members asking if the ICMA Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas, will still be taking place. The good news is plans for the conference are on track. The weather had little impact on San Antonio other than stronger than normal winds and rain over the weekend. The city is helping its neighbors to the south by sheltering evacuees as emergency teams were prepared for the worst. More than 1,000 evacuees have arrived in San Antonio with more expected. As part of the conference program, San Antonio plans to share its emergency operations and the conference educational program addresses some of the most challenging issues facing local government professionals right now:

  • Dealing with Immigration Issues: The Real Story and Lessons Learned
  • Homelessness: Alleviating Community Challenges
  • Believe It or Not, We've All Got Biases
