ICMA President Jeffrey Towery, in consultation with the ICMA Executive Board and Membership Committee, has finalized appointments to ICMA’s Governance Task Force. Over the next 18 months, this select group of members will work together to evaluate ICMA’s governance structure to determine the best model for serving a global membership while maintaining the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The task force will be responsible for developing recommendations that will be presented to the ICMA Executive Board by December 2024.
The Governance Task force will kick off its work with an organizational meeting via Zoom in August 2023, followed by an in-person meeting at the annual conference in Austin, Texas. President Towery has appointed Andrew Pederson, village administrator of Bayside, Wisconsin, to serve as co-chair. Task force members will select the second co-chair at their organizational meeting.
There will be many opportunities for members to engage with the Governance Task Force and to contribute input on the future of ICMA’s governance model as the task force completes its work over the next 18 months. A full list of task force members can be found here.
Members who have questions about the Governance Task Force should contact Isabelle Bully Omictin at iomictin@icma.org or Amber Snowden at asnowden@icma.org.
