The State and Local Legal Center (SLLC) has organized a webinar on the significant United States Supreme Court cases from this term affecting state and local government. The webinar will be held on Thursday July 19 at 1:00PM Eastern time.
Since 1983 the SLLC has filed amicus curiae briefs to the Supreme Court on behalf of the Big Seven national organizations representing the interests of state and local government, including ICMA.
One of the webinar speakers is Paul Clement who argued the Affordable Care Act cases, the Arizona immigration case, the Texas redistricting cases, and four other cases before the Supreme Court this term. The other speaker is Patricia Millett, who argued three cases before the Court this term impacting state or local government. Lisa Soronen, executive director of the SLLC, will discuss a number of cases where the SLLC filed an amicus brief.
This webinar provides participants with a unique opportunity to hear attorneys intimately involved in many of the important cases before the Supreme Court discuss them and answer questions. During the webinar, the speakers will talk about the practical implications of the Affordable Care Act cases, the Arizona immigration case, and Filarsky v. Delia, involving qualified immunity for government contractors, among a number of other cases.
While the webinar is free and open to the public, the target audience of the webinar is members of the Big Seven.
Register for the July 19 webinar here or at the State and Local Legal Center’s website.
