ICMA’s Local Government Excellence Awards program celebrates the value of professional management and honors creative contributions to professional local government leadership. The awards highlight public awareness of the value of professional management and its impact to the quality of life in our communities.

Awards, open to U.S. and international members and programs, are conferred in the areas of Professional Awards (recognizing individual achievements) and Program Excellence (recognizing creative and successful community programs). Program awards are segmented by population size to ensure that small communities aren’t competing against large communities.

Complete information on the awards categories, the nominations process, and the new online nomination forms are on the awards page of the ICMA website. To use the new online system, you must be logged into your ICMA account. The deadline for nominations is March 15, 2017.

Award recipients will be notified in June, recognized during ICMA’s  103rd annual conference in October 2017 in San Antonio/Bexar County, Texas, and featured in a fall issue of PM magazine.
