To celebrate ICMA’s centennial anniversary, at the opening general session of the organization’s 100th annual conference, Joan McCallen, president and CEO of ICMA-RC, presented ICMA and Executive Director Bob O’Neill with a beautiful picture book titled Celebration: Honoring 100 Years of Serving Communities. The book contains pictures of gifts presented to ICMA by past conference host committees and other local government organizations.

Celebration, which was displayed in the anniversary gallery in the Charlotte Convention Center, is available on demand in a 7-inch x 7-inch, 70-page, softcover format. The cost is $32.69 per copy plus shipping. (See a preview; purchase a copy.)

The tradition of each annual conference host committee presenting a gift to ICMA during the event began in 1994 at the suggestion of former ICMA Executive Director Bill Hansell. Since that time, ICMA has acquired a number of pieces of impressive art ranging from a five-foot-tall carved wooden salmon from the Oregon City/County Management Association, to a nearly six-foot-tall Canadian Mountie from the 1997 Vancouver Host Committee, to a blown-glass piece by artist Gini Garcia from the 2006 San Antonio/Bexar County Host Committee.

Celebration presents an opportunity for ICMA members, friends, collaborators, and visitors to enjoy these works of art. ICMA thanks ICMA-RC for producing this volume in honor of our centennial anniversary. Order a copy of this commemorative anniversary keepsake.
