The local government management profession will experience enormous change heading into the next decades. So that we are prepared, ICMA is convening a task force to evaluate the future role of leadership for the local government profession, the “value proposition” of professional management, and the supporting role ICMA must play.
As part of its work, the ICMA Member Task Force on Leadership will consider:
- What are the forces that will impact local government in the next 10 to 25 years?
- What challenges do those factors present?
- What are the implications for the local government management profession?
- What leadership and management competencies will be required of professional managers?
- What are the implications for leadership and management development?
- What should be the role of ICMA and affiliates in addressing these challenges?
Appointments will be made by President Farbrother, in consultation with the board.
