ICMA, the International City/County Management Association, welcomes OpenGov.com as a new Strategic Partner. ICMA's partnership with OpenGov.com will help local governments access historic and current financial data, analyze and compare revenue and expenses, and share financial information within the government and with citizens.
ICMA's Strategic Partner Program was created in 1996 as an access point for private sector participation in ICMA programs and activities. ICMA Strategic Partners have opportunities to assist professional local government managers by showcasing leading practice solutions and providing thought leadership. By providing detailed financial data to the public as an ICMA Strategic Partner, OpenGov.com supports the two pillars of ICMA: ethics and performance management.
In 2012, OpenGov.com developed the OpenGov Platform, which includes web-based financial visualization software and budget applications that make data instantly accessible from anywhere and easily understandable—from big picture trends to object-level details. The current practice of releasing budget information to the public in massive spreadsheets and PDF documents no longer meets the needs of citizens or takes advantage of modern technology. OpenGov.com's software-as-a-service platform improves data access, financial decision-making, and builds trust and engagement with citizens.
"The OpenGov Platform further builds on the work we are doing to fully embrace open government. It translates to a deeper level of interaction with our community by removing barriers and creating a more inclusive government here in Palo Alto," says James Keene, City Manager of Palo Alto, California. "The trust this builds in our community is priceless."
"The partnership between ICMA and OpenGov.com will benefit many of our communities," says Robert J. O'Neill, Jr., executive director, ICMA. "The company's commitment to local government transparency is consistent with our members' dedication to ensuring and furthering the public trust."
OpenGov.com officially became an ICMA Strategic Partner during the organization's 99th ICMA Annual Conference in Boston in September 2013. In January 2014, OpenGov.com and ICMA will co-host a webinar for the ICMA membership so that they can learn more about OpenGov's innovative software.
ICMA, the International City/County Management Association, advances professional local government worldwide. OpenGov.com builds web-based financial visualization software and budget applications for state and local governments.
